Artist Statement/Biography If you hadn't guessed yet, my name is Austin Hulse. I'm eighteen, and I grew up San Diego my whole life--Escondido some years, Del Mar some others. I play the guitar, read a lot, work, take martial arts, and do homework. Such facts, however, are rather inconsequential to my artwork, because I prefer art that escapes from reality, yet is acceptable for the mind to comprehend. I find that as enjoyable (or painful) as life can be, the human psyche often dwells in the realm of personal reality generated from imagination. I enjoyed working with Photoshop because it gave me an opportunity to manifest that which was created in my mind. The sense of realism is intended to create an acceptable world, or somewhat of an alternative reality, as if to say this event could have happened in our own world, yet did not.
